Quality of Life on Mindful Monday

Another new week in Room 123.  We worked hard today to log onto to our brand new computers in preparation for the Student Learning Assessments.  We used Microsoft Word to answer the following question:  What does quality of life mean to us?  I was really proud of all of the great ideas that we brainstormed together.  Here are some of our thoughts: Having a good quality of life means:

I have loving parents and grandparents.
I get to spend time with my family.
I have clean water to drink and healthy food to eat.
I get to go to school to learn.
I have clean air to breathe.
I can read.
I have pets.
I have shelter (a nice house to live in).
I have warm clothes to wear.
I have money to buy things.
I have friends.
I have doctors and hospitals to keep me healthy.
I can watch TV
Police officers, firefighters, keep me safe.

We will begin to compare our own quality of life in Canada to children our age in India, Tunisia, Peru and the Ukraine.  How is our identity different and similar to them.  Other questions to think about are:  How is identity connected to quality of life and community?,  Can your quality of life change?, How can we help others who do not have access to the same community supports that we have?

We also practiced our polygon creation and identification of characteristics using the online geoboard in the learner links section on this blog.
