Thinking Thursday and Fearless Friday

x

We continued our work with Division strategies on Thursday.  We worked on a  format for our answers in our math journals:
 1.   draw a picture (an array) of the objects to be divided (shared into groups)
2.  circle your groups of objects
3.  Write your answer
4.  Write a sentence to tell the math story.

Here are some pictures to show you:

On Friday we celebrated Earth Day by writing letters to mother earth and making impressions with our fire stamps.  These are our own designs of for the element of fire.

Dear mother earth,

Thank you for giving us water, oxygen and vegetation. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and the fluffy white clouds. I am sorry for giving too much pollution and waste water. People don’t care about you and do harmful things like polluting, littering and deforestation. I will stand up and say to the bad people “stop doing that harmful act do the right act.”

Dear Mother Earth,

Thank you for all of the freshwater from roaring rivers and healthy food from the smooth soil. I promise to stop deforestation, pollution, and destroying important life. Sorry for using so many plastic and throwing it in the blue vast ocean. Thank you for all of your geothermal energy to keep everyone warm.
