Tuning in our Writing Skills on Tuesday
Dear parents,

As you know we have been learning and exploring rocks and minerals in the classroom, so the subject of our writing today was the imagined history of a rock of each student's choice. It was really great to meet an author expert and to learn her process. Also, it was another opportunity for students to show what they know about rocks and minerals. Well done, everyone!
Cathy taught the students about the 4 "s" to use as a checklist to self-monitor their writing.
Your writing should have, so that your reader visualizes as they read your story:
1. Specific details
2. Sensory words
3. Strong verbs
4. Show don't tell
