Highlights from Wednesday to Friday

Here are some things we explored.  Multiplication using arrays, we watched some videos and practiced our skill of quick addition (multiplication).  We discovered that arrays are everywhere in the world, all you have to do is look.  Check out some we found just by looking around our classroom.

We started talking about festivals around the world since last week it was Diwali in India, a festival of lights.  Thanks to our classroom experts Shrey and Sarang for helping us understand the purpose of this festival.  It prompted us to ask the question why do we have festivals?  Here are some of our thoughts.  We realized that festivals are a large part of a community and also our identity.  What are some important festivals that you celebrate with your families?   We also made a connection to how festivals promote peace and that they encourage people to stop conflict and war during these special times.
On Friday, we practiced again for our Remembrance Day Assembly, here are some photos of our mindful focus for this very important day.  All of the grade 3s are playing an important role, they are sending a message for peace around the world.  The assembly is on Thursday morning at 9:30 if you would like to join us.

Here is an amazing quote from one groups guided reading book.  I think it sums up all of the brilliant minds in Room 123.  "The fastest thing in the world is thought."  With all the thoughts that swirl around our room every day we are certainly living global mind.  One thought sparks another, and another and so on.
