Tuning into Peace on Tuesday

Peace and Poetry were the focus for today.  We really tuned into understanding peace through our senses.  We used a reading power organizer to inference and brainstorm  what peace looks like, sounds like, smells like, and feels like.  We also thought about what peaceful actions are and things we might say or hear others saying in relation to peace.  Your neurons were firing today as you came up with some amazing ideas.  Then we took our ideas and worked on a creating peace poems in smart notebook.  Here are some of shape poems:

Did you know that, November 13th is World Kindness Day.  We are inspired to spread kindness around the entire school and we are brainstorming ways to encourage and promote kind thoughts, actions and words. Kindness is contagious!  See what you can do to pay it forward on the 13th and everyday. Here's a link for you to get some ideas for random acts of kindness:  https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/kindness-ideas

Speaking of peaceful actions, we took advantage of the warm weather this morning to practic our frisbee skills outside.  Frisbee throwing takes mindful skill.  What does peace look like?  How about a whole bunch of cheerful grade 3 students trying to get a disc to float on the airwaves, and check out  the peaceful clouds in the bright blue sky.  We certainly had fun as we persisted.
