Spelling Mastery Program Routine and Resources
Since we have started our spelling mastery program, I wanted to let you know the sequence and timeline we will follow each week.
Yellow Spelling Folder includes:
There are digital copies of the spelling list and lesson words in our Room 123 D2L shell under Content Browser - Right hand side menu at the very bottom. Click on Language Arts and choose SRA spelling mastery.
During a normal 5 day week:
There are 4 lessons per week Monday - Thursday we will do direct lessons in class to practice and recycle the words on the current list. Students will take their yellow spelling folders home on Thursday evening to study their "sticky" words, if they can spell the word there is no need to practice all 25 words on the list. Instead only focus on the ones that they get stuck on each time. On Fridays we will have our test.
The spelling list is divided into the weekly lessons. You will see if you look at the master list that there is a heading at the top of the columns: 1-5, 6-10, 11- 15, etc. See image below:

Exceptions:
During a four day week we may have to adjust the schedule and have the test the following Monday.
Last week we did lessons 1 and 2 and today we finished up lessons 3 and 4. So we will be writing the test tomorrow. Students took their yellow folders home tonight to study their "sticky" words. We will do lessons 6 and 7 tomorrow to catch up so that we can do our test for lessons 6-10 on Friday.
Thank you for your commitment to following through with spelling at home.
